Alpha Ketoglutarate is a precursor to glutamine; however, unlike free glutamine, Alpha Ketoglutarate is not recognised by the gut, so more of it makes it through the digestive system.
Once in the body, Alpha Ketoglutarate can be converted to glutamine as necessary. Alpha Ketoglutarate is sold as a dietary supplement to body builders. Some believe it increases stamina.
Alpha Ketoglutarate is also known as AKG.
